"Where She Went"-By Gayle Forman, realistic fiction, Alyssa-Beth Woodruff

So, many people have read or at least heard of the book "If I Stay". This book that I will be telling you about today is the sequel to that book. Mia, the protagonist of the story, was in a car accident with her mother, father, and little brother. They were out for a drive on a snow day for the kids, when a pick-up truck slips on the snow and send the family into the ditch. The mother died on site, the father was knocked unconscious and was taken to the hospital for surgery, as well as Mia. Teddy, Mia's little brother, was the only family member that was conscious. Unfortunately, both parents couldn't make it and Teddy let go as well. Here is the question for Mia, should she stay alive but wake up with no family? Or will she let go to be with the rest of the family? Well, that is when "Where She Went" ties into this decision. Mia decided that she will stay alive. But she leaves to go across the country from her boyfriend, Adam. Why? She is going to Julliard, one of the greatest instrumental schools in the country! She played the cello. She has also dreamed about going to Julliard her entire life, but why didn't she choose to stay with Adam? Well, what would yo do? Would you stay with the possible love of your life, or go to a school that may decide the rest of your life?

QUESTION #3-- "talk about the book's structure..."

The structure of the book goes from one point in time to another, just like most books do. The language is used like someone would be saying it to a friend. At times, the vocabulary is a little sophisticated. Books that are like normal conversations, just with more action and verbs, are easier to read, in my opinion.

QUESTION #1

Mia is a teenage girl that has gone through a lot. Losing her mother, father, brother, and suffering without family. She plays the cello which brought her into the college/school of her dreams! Her family consists of pretty much only her Grandparents. She lost everyone else in the car accident. I admire Mia because she not only worked to get to where she is today, such as going to Julliard, but she made a huge decision between living her life without family or not living at all. I honestly wouldn't be able to make it in life if I had lost my family. It is hard. I have lost some grandparents throughout my life but not all at once.
