Nonfiction : Voices From The Street By : S.Beth Atkin 


This book so far is about different people telling their life stories and how they made it out of the gang banging . These people do what they do because things went wrong throughout their lives and think joining a gang will help or keep them protected . The past shaped their lives this way because things throughout their past something went wrong , have been abused or see their family members that way . Gangs wouldn`t protect you . That is how people are dying .



Question 6 : Whats a interesting passage from this book ? A passage that was interesting was about a girl that joined a gang because her ex boyfriend was abusing / harassing her . She thought because he was abusing her the gang would " protect you " . They can try and protect you but what happens when other gangs do drive-bys and your there ? You can die . You`re hurting yourself by joining a gang .


Question 2 : Whats the central idea ? The central idea of this book is gangs and people making it out of gangs to a better life for them and others around . People that were in gangs and dropped out of school , are now getting the education they need and some are working and taking care of there family .
