A Lesson Before Dying

"A Lesson Before Dying"  By:Ernest J Gaines, Realistic fiction

It's the late 40's, your an uneducated black man living in a small, predominately white, Cajun community in the deep south this is reality for Jefferson; (the character the book is based around)

The story starts in a grocery store Jefferson was forced to go in with his older brother and his cousin; (Bear), they got every thing they wanted, then went to the register to check out their groceries, They then found out they didn't they didn't have money to pay for the liquor they wanted to purchase. They tried to get the clerk (Mr. Grope) to give it to them and they would have the rest of the money later but he wouldn't, he said that lost of people don't pay him back. that was when Bear sent behind the counter and started towards the cash register; (keep in mind he had been drinking) Grope told him to "go back" but bear kept going when bear was still nearing closer after two more warnings from grope ran to the register and pulled a 38 special he started shooting, a few seconds later their were gunshots from another direction. When it was quiet again three bodies lay on the floor Bear, brother And grope who was still able to talk. Jefferson was trying to make sure that Grope knew he had no part in the shooting but, it was of no use; Jefferson  was talking to a dead man. Still he didn't run his head was spinning, he didn't know how he got there, what to do, or even recall what had happened.

In court Jefferson's defense attorney didn't help his case much he tried, but failed. Even through the prejudice statements he made about his client "this isn't something that's smart enough to plan a robbery or a murder this is just something to pick your corn or bail your cotton" (Jefferson is a black man of low intelligence). Even after lots of this type of arrangement from his layer Jefferson was still found guilty of robbery, and murder in the first degree and was sentenced to death by electrocution.

Questions

 Question #1.
-Jefferson does what he knows to do, he never received a proper education he doesn't have much common sense if any, he knows how to work in the field because that was the trade he learned on the plantation farm he was born on and lives on.
-his actions are absolutely justified; as I said above he's a black man of low intelligence in a predominately white town and he just does what he knows.
-the past is everything in the terms of Jefferson's life, especially seeing he was sentenced to the death penalty, (in the forties this would give him (at the most) a couple months to live). his past determined the path of his life which is the death penalty.
-While I don't necessarily admire him, I believe that Jefferson is simply a victim of circumstance, I also believe that he is  very negatively effected by something that is beyond his control, I almost sympathize with him
-Jefferson dos not remind me of any one I know; I feel that this is mainly because of the difference in setting of the story and modern day their just is enough similarities between the two worlds.
Question #8
The story takes place in a small Cajun town, in the deep south, in the late forties, and the character the story is based around is black, . so yes the setting is most certainly imperative of the story. I believe that if this story was written about modern day America than their wouldn't even be a story. Their are numerous reasons for this; today everyone is educated regardless of race, or any other quality in which prejudices are based upon, racism is still a problem today, but much less prevalent today than in the forties, and just as a closer; today the store would have had security cameras in it which could have proved Jefferson innocence in the whole case.

Navy Seal Dogs by-Mike Ritlands

 Tyler Harrington

So where I left off Mike was beginning to talk about the different divisions dogs are in and how important dogs can be in missions. So he talks about chopper and choppers specific breed of dog he is Belgian malinois that is a good (SOF) division dog. Also that chopper was about two when mike got him and chopper was trained when he was a puppy.so before military can recruit dogs have to go through training before they can go.Mike then tells a a special seals missions that he went on and tells how they planned for weeks for it and practiced for the operation. The missions was in Iraq and they were post to protect the oil Riggs because they got Intel that Iraqi guards were going to plant explosives and blow it up .

1)So i believe that mike works for the seals is to protect anyone or anything. Also willing to put his life on the line for his country to protect and serve. So that's why i believe why he does what he does.

2)Also i believe that the main character for this passage is chopper and Mike. The reason i think is because in the beginning of the chapter Mike talks about chopper and the different breeds of dogs and training they go through for preparation. Also Mike because he talks about his mission in Iraq and how he was in a dangerous situation.

The Maze Runner

The book follows the path of a kid named Thomas. One day Thomas wakes up and he's in a weird place. He can't remember anything except for his name. The place only has boys in it, it's a square. In this square is a couple buildings that were made. All around the square, there's giant walls that touch the sky. Past those walls, a massive maze, the only way out. Not only is the maze gigantic, but there is a threat in it unlike anything Thomas has ever faced.

Q5: Is the end satisfying? I don't think it is satisfying, but since the series continues past the book I guess that's the point.

Q6: If you could ask the author something about the book what would you ask? I would ask what made them think of this story, was it something in real life that happened or was it just creative thinking or anything like that.
 A Child Called It.
So far into the book i've gotten far enough to learn and discover some other terrible games David's mother plays on him. By now things have gotten worse David's mother doesn't even call him by his name she refers to him as " the boy". At first David thought he could escape his mother's beatings through his father and just his dad of being around him at first it did make a difference but not for long, it changed it didn't matter if his father was around or not his mother had gotten even more careless. David learns quickly a better way to distract his mom in ways that could save his life. He buys time until his brothers come home because he knows if they are home his mother won't hurt him.

1. if i could ask the author any question i would ask how he survived and what was the real cause of his mother insane strange unexpected behavior real reasoning. I would ask him this because in the book i know he was a very young kid and at the time he didn't understand why his mother just snapped and became this different person out of no where but now that hes older he probably knows the real reason.

2. one way my main character solved a problem is buying time to save his life he had to do this several times he continues to out smart his mother hes always trying to be one step ahead of the game so he can stay alive. i learned that if you use your brain to get you out of problems such as instead of fighting you will most likely win.

football superstars, by rachel a. koestler-grack, non-fiction

In the book Tom Brady has come from a mediocre college QB to a superstar in the NFL. Winning the super bowl the past year and having one of the best records in the NFL he is liked all around the world. Finally he has secured a starting job on the team and is very well liked by the coaches.

questions

  • The past has shaped Tom Brady's life because he decided at the last moment to switch to football from baseball if he hadn't of made that decision he may be in the MLB instead of the NFL.
  • Tom Brady works hard every day to try to get better and be more efficient in his throwing and reading defenses because he wants to be the best he can be and he has a great wok ethic.

Blog #2: B For Buster - Iain Lawrence

From what I have read since the last blog post of mine, much has happened in the story. The main character, Kak, and his squad fly in the bomber plane, known as "B For Buster" for the first time on a night bombing raid. Kak thinks that he has already seen and done much more with his life than his abusive, alcoholic father ever did. With such amusement, Kak is amazed with the Lofty, the pilot, and his skill with flying the plane. The last part of what I read was when Kak looks up on the ceiling and finds the words to a poem written in pencil. As he reads the poem, he wonders what happened to the person before him that was sitting in the same spot he was. "What if he vanished?"

Question 4: What type of language does the author use?
The author is writing as if the main character has had a scarring past, and doesn't want anyone to find out. After the first chapter, the writing starts to show that the main character feels as he has accomplished more than he thought he would.

Question 1: What is different from your own culture?
The book is set in the 1940's, during World War II, and the main character's squad is Canadian, so culture is different mostly because of the time period.
Daniel x was by no meaning ever a "normal boy" being raised by two alien hunting parents he learned the trade. He was only three years old when his parents were killed by a six and half foot tall alien praying mantis. ever since then he's been keeping the family's fire going; just him and his parents' list of "alien outlaws on Terra Firma" he hunts them down ,and battles them as he finds them. This is a full time job if you consider the fact that he has to elude police officers in every city he goes to.
Question 1. describe the main characters personality traits, motivations, inner qualities.
:Daniel was born into his trade his parents were alien hunters so he just kind of followed after them.
:I feel that his actions are justified; he's ridding the planet of despicable and harmful vermin.
:his parents were killed and they are the only ones that were close to him that were mentioned yet.
:Daniel loved his parents very much, and when they were killed he wanted to avenge them.
:I respect where he is coming from and do admire his ways of working to please his late parents.
:I cannot make connections between daniel and characters from other stories or real life.

Question 4.The author; (James Patterson) uses suspense and some action as the main theme of the book. he also uses the idea of characterization to give real life inscets human like traits and although
the novel has no real pictures it really does a good job of putting your self in the situation in your mind.

"Ready Player One"- by Ernest Cline

So far in the book the main character Wade Watts stumbled upon the first clue, he goes through a dungeon replicated directly from dungeons and dragons which was one of the creator's favorite games.Wade found himself threatened  by players willing to kill for a key which led to this ultimate prize.

3.the structure of the book really is like the most 1st person view possible. it runs you through his thought process as he plays and solves puzzles. it’s one whole experience of a story.

10. Wade solved the puzzle in a really impressive way. he went so far as to watch every show, play every game, and read every book that creator of the game likes just so he could thinks similarly to him, and it worked.he found the clue in a really obscure place and looked into it, it was a bunch of “randomly” underlined letters a book that the creator had written. he put them together and it led him to the DnD dungeon.

Paralyzed

This book is about a boy in his senior year of high school. He is playing football against Milbury high school. He intercepted the ball and one of the player on the other team hit him with an illegal tackle and paralyzed himself. Without noticing that a boy was lying behind him paralyzed, Reggie Scott, celebrates his interception. When he finally noticed no one was celebrating with him he turned around and saw Nate Brown lying on the ground with many coaches and the team's doctor around him. After that Reggie wasn't the same old "Stick-'em"( an old nickname the team had gave him) He was before the incident. He had guilt that this was his fault.  His coaches and his parent thought it would be best if he sat out the next game and went to a sports psychologist.  Many times he tried to go visit Nate Brown in the hospital. When he finally got in Nate Brown's mom wasn't to inviting. With the feeling he might get suspended because Mrs.Brown thought it was inappropriate that Reggie celebrated while Nate was on the ground paralyzed. She had pressed charges stating that Reggie shall not play until Nate could play. When the charges were dismissed he went on playing like he used to. He went to go visit Nate in the hospital one last time and this time Nate wasn't in the ICU, He was in the recovery wing. When he visited him he was excited to realize that Nate wasn't mad at him at all. When they played Milbury this time since the game had been rescheduled until now. He was his same old self. The game was about to start and out on the field came Nate for a ceremonial kick off. They played their best against Milbury that night but came up a little short. They lost the game. Although they lost the game it was a win for Reggie that night seeing Nate walk on the field again.

1)Reggie Scott is the main idea and he is a tough linebacker with a reputation for being the best. His teammates and coaches all like him being on the team.
2) The main character changes throughout the book by letting things go. He also works through his problems.

Four by Veronica Roth

To recap the first few chapters,.... Tobias has taken his aptitude test which is a test that says whether he what faction he should go into. Factions are determined by personality traits that are most prominent (brave, selfless, peaceful, honest, and the intelligent). Anyhow his result for his test result was abnegation (selfless), which is the faction he is currently in and being abused by his father in, he wants out. Although it would disappoint his faction Tobias decided to choose Dauntless (the brave) to escape his father and his abuse. After the choosing ceremony is when the thrilling part begins to get through the initiation, the beginning of it is having to run to jump onto a train. Then after he has to jump off of a high building (into a net) and initiation has only just began.

Q1: Are any details missing?  Answer: Yes absolutely it is very hard to describe every detail of this book, mainly because it has a very difficult setting to describe
Q2: Does Tobias have any friends?  Answer: Not in the beginning of the book but he does make some along the way.

I am a SEAL team six warrior By Howard E. Wasdin Blog #2

Howard goes to Coronado, California, for the famously difficult SEAL training. He details the rigors of the tests the unit uses to weed out candidates, especially the final “Hell Week” tests. He also recounts the heroism of individual SEALs he learned about, and explains the SEAL ethos of excellence and hard work and endurance.Howard joins his first SEAL unit, SEAL Team Two. He’s given more training, including sessions abroad with international commando squads. He also begins to hear about a special, secret unit, SEAL Team Six. It piques his interest. Sadly, his excitement about his career is offset by the death of the uncle who’d been a mentor to him. Howard is crushed. Yet, at the funeral, something positive happens.

Question #1 Do the issues affect your life?
Yes they do i've had to deal with death like Howard.

What kind of language does the author use?
The author is passionate because Howard is the one telling the story and he lived it.

Ghost Hawk by Susan Cooper
Blog # 2

As the weeks go by Little Hawk survives the grueling journey to man hood, he returns to his village. To be distraught by his first glimpse of his village. As he moves closer and closer his notices no little kids playing outside, people outside, or even a sound. So he yells. In that very moment his sister comes dashing out of the longhouse towards him. His sister Quickbird is relived to see him once again. She was no longer as upset as before. Little Hawk ask why? As Little Hawk was on his journey the village had done many trades with the white men. They would trade fur, for weapons or farming skills for clothes. But some how we caught a disease, and it spread like a wild fire. Most of the village died. There were a few other people fine, but the rest were a deeply sick.

Question #1 Describe the main character
The main character Little Hawk is a brave and fully hearted person. From going on his journey to become a man. To taking care of the village as the people of it have passed. He's a strong willed and determined person. He is able to overcome any obstacle as it seems. I approve of his actions and believe he is doing the right thing. He returned a man from his journey to become a leader.

Question #2 Themes
The theme is consistent through out the passage. It is seems as the main theme through out the book is to survive. To stride and overcome obstacles given to you. As the author gives many hints of what the main theme is, sometimes yo cant tell. Usually it's about Little Hawk surviving or his manitou, his spirit that he follows for life. Plays an important part in the theme. He guides Little Hawk through out the book. By showing him whats right and wrong.

Cover Up, By John Feinstein - Ermin Alemic

So last time we left off Steven got some news from Susan and she told Steven that the dreams five linemen were using human growth hormones. Steven then went to the Hoosier dome for an interview asking them about the players using Human Growth Hormones. When Steven asked the people he interviewed were shocked and were trying to cover it up, and trying to give as little information as they could. Later on Bobby a person show mentor is Steven Thomas setup an interview with the owner of the ravens Steve Bisciotti. Then a lot of people attended a party for the NFL and Bobby had a big argument with the Owner of the dreams football team. Then later on they had talked to Eddie and he told them everything about the drug tests, and they figure out Meeker is the one covering up the drug tests so the players don't get suspended and have to sit out. Then Susan Carol tries to talk to Dr. Snow who is drunk and tries to blackmail him for the drug results of the dreams players. Then Dr. Snow leads them into a trap created by meeker, and they are held hostage and Stevie had a microphone on him the whole time and they were rescued by Kerns. Will Stevie, and Susan Carol get away with the drug results, or will the dreams get away with using Human Growth Hormones.

Question 2: Have the main characters changed by the end of the book? Yes the characters have changed in the story. They became very popular and known after a news story they did.

Question 6: If you could ask the author one question, what would you ask? I would ask the author if he has had any experiences with people using drugs in sports, or has heard of any, and if they made him think of writing this book.

Scorch, by Gina Damico, Fiction

This is the second book in the Gina Damico series after the first book named "Croak", which is the name of the town that this crazy but exciting adventure started in one fateful summer. Lex, the main character that we follow, looks more into the mysteries of Croak and the "Grimsphere", the Grimsphere is a secret kind of web of towns that reside hidden from the rest of the world other than fellow people that reside in the Grimsphere one way or another. Hint: Think of the citizens much like what some people call "The Grim Reaper", such as they are nicknamed "Grims". But chaos is looming over head with traitors and dark secrets that weren't meant to be found, or were they?

The power of "damning" is what started this chaos. It is a power the Lex, a grim herself she found out recently, can or cannot control through her willpower, but something even darker lies behind that destructive power. Where ever Lex goes trouble follows as a grim turned rogue steals her power, more like copies it, and uses it to damn innocents and criminals alike to get what she wants. Zara, the rogue that started "Masterminding" these cruel plans was after "The Wrong Book", that is the actual title. The Wrong Book is connected to the most evil Grim in the Grimsphere, a legend that is twisted in may ways, named "Grotton". As their adventure continues allies with the other juniors as the senior part of the grimsphere turns on them and Juniors all across the Grimpshere. They hide in town that seems more like a paradise mirage in a dry land of a heated desert, DeMyse, which has oddly not been touched by the damning Zara.

Question #4
The author most likely went with a fictional mythological theme the way I see it. Grim Reapers, souls, the afterlife, it all sounds like the theme of a twisted fairytale mixed with the ideas of the own author. This is a great book that shows developed and thought through way of systems in the Grimsphere and how things work, well, except the Either. I really don't understand what the Either really is or how it got there in the first place before being discovered.

Question #7
This book hasn't really changed me, more like given me more ideas or new concepts of death and myth. Maybe a few systems I though of on my own and inventions that Lex's uncle, that she claimed was "Crazy" in the beginning of the series many a times, made that could actually be useful in real life. I guess I'm just the different old me, after all, no one stays the same for long, let it be a day or even a few seconds and everything you know or believe can change in the blink of an eye. I guess the book also backed up that concept, one of many that I've seen, yet that doesn't really change anything right now, but maybe later for any one of us...
The Half Life of Molly Pierce--Katrina Leno--Fiction--Katie Roberts

Summary--After school Molly dropped her friends off at the library, and then went to her therapy session. Her therapist name is Alex, for the first time ever Alex told him something that happened and that was concerning to him. At fist he thought she was kidding because she jokes around with him a lot. She told him the she watched someone die, and she said everything that happened minus all of the black outs. He was very concerned and felt very bad for her. He was putting things in her head like maybe he wasn't coming after her, but she just had a feeling that he was coming for her. After her session she felt a lot better. When she finally got home she plugged her phone in, and as she expected it blew up. A lot of calls, text, and notifications popped up. She was surprised that her phone didn't break. She went Lyal's funeral, she felt it was really weird for her. She didn't know him, well she did but didn't remember.

9--"What I saw outside, what I remembered, or what I dreamed up, or what I fabricated, its begging to be considered. Its right there inside of my veins and its crawling under my skin and its looking for a way to get to the surface, but I don't want it to." There was this feeling she got after the funeral, like maybe she remembered something, but she didn't want to. This stood out to me because she has the same feeling as she did when she was watching this kid that she knew, but didn't remember, die. That must have been the worst feeling in the world.

7--"Has the novel changed you?" Yes, the novel has changed me, it has made me think of other people and what they might be going through. If i waled by Molly in school, I would not have known what she was going through. She doesn't show anything, or like to talk about it.

The Scorch Trials: James Dashner, Science Fiction (Blog #2)

After the Gladers see the hanging bodies, Thomas realize that he has to find Teresa. He tries to telepathically contact her. They search the building looking for her and they finally found a room with Teresa's name on the wall. As they break into the room, they notice something. The person that walked out the bathroom in the room wasn't Teresa. It was a boy. His name was Aris. He was from the maze too, but a different one. Like a different experiment. Aris was the only boy in the Maze like how Teresa was the only girl. As they were looking for Teresa, they came to thought that she was missing and didn't know where she was or who took her. The Gladers decided to ask Aris some questions, as they were talking to him, Aris telepathically talked to Thomas. He was shocked when Aris told Thomas that WICKED killed his best friend.

Question 6: I would ask the author would he ever kill one of the main characters, if so, how would the whole story change, because the Gladers depend on each other so much that I wonder if one of them died, how would they feel/survive.

Question 7: This story hasn't changed me, and I don't feel like it ever will because its fiction. I know that this won't really happen. But, it was nice to see how easy it was for the Gladers to befriend each other because they know nothing will change, and if it does change, they all have a characteristic that a whole group of people need.

Paper Towns, John Green

The day after Q and Margo snuck out on their night of revenge on Wednesday, Margo went missing. Margo frequently goes out on "adventures" where she is gone for many days, but to make it interesting Margo leaves clues for her parents to tell her where she has gone.  The police are notified after 2 days of her being gone. Their parents and the detective searched for clues, but came up dry.  One thing was the same for Margo every night was that her bedroom windows shade was always closed, when the detectives closed it, it revealed a poster that pointed directly to Qs room. This poster lead to others clues Q had to discover with his two friends, Ben and Radar.

Question 4. What are the main ideas?
I think during this section the main or central idea is thinking deeper and really interpreting the reading. When Q found the first clue it lead him to a poem where words were highlighted my Margo, Q had to read over the poem multiple times and think deeper then he normally would. This whole section challenged Q to interpret the clue and find Margo.

Question 7. Has this book changed me?
Honestly, no I do not think it changed me dramatically meaning I'm not gonna start acting like the characters and run away like Margo or go to crazy parties like Ben. But I do think it has made me think deeper and find what the author is trying to say to you threw the text. In the book it is what Margo wants Q to search for her and find what she is saying in the text.

Blog # 2:The Martian, By:Andy Weir, Fiction

Salvatore Stassi                                                                                                          October, 18, 2015
Mrs.Welch                                                                                                                         ELA:Blog # 2

Mark Watney is your every day typical joe living on a desert like planet that's basically rusting... how lovely.

When we last left off Mark Watney was left for dead on the red planet Mars, but over time and a lot of failures Mark Watney finally cultivate Mars and created a sort of stable way to create water. But now Mark Watney needs to get communication with NASA and the only way to do that is to go to the Ares 4 landing site to retrive the pre launched MVD. The twist for this blog is that the people from NASA already know that Mark Watney is alive from satellite images of the red barren planet. Will Mark Watney reach Ares 4 and get communication to NASA or will he perish due to the harsh environment he has been left in.

Question # 1
Mark Watney is intelligent, resourceful, a problem solver, good-natured, cheerful, and has a great sense of humor. The story states "...he's very intelligent...he's particularly resourceful and a good problem solver...he's good-natured man. Usually cheerful, with a great sense of humor."(page 89, end of the page). I admire Mark Watney for his will to live and that he's a team player.

Question # 6
If I could as the author one question I would ask him what had inspired him to write a such a great book that's full of comedy but yet is intense at the same time.

Question # 6 part 2
I haven't read any of Andy Weir's other books but after I'm done with The Martian I will definitely grab another one of his books.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, Sam Robinson

Blog #2

Summary: So in the past couple chapters that I read Cassie's mother has died of a plague called " The Red Tsunami" (Blood Plague or The Fourth Horsemen). This plague killed off almost 100% of the remaining human population. After Cassie's mother dies, her father says that it's time for him, her and her little brother Sammy to leave their home because it just "wasn't safe anymore." They end up finding a refugee camp in the woods and stay there for 2 or more weeks. After about 6 days there, everyone in the camp starts to notice these drones that keep flying overhead of the camp. A few days later a black-hawk helicopter flies overhead and doesn't land, it just flies back away. The next day a bunch of soldiers in Humvee's and trucks pull up to the camp. A few moments later three school buses pull in, confusing and surprising everyone in the camp. The leader of the troops states that only the children would be taken to the "safe camp". Sammy leaves in a school bus leaving Cassie and his father behind. After the buses leave everyone is gathered inside the main building for a meeting. When Cassie states that one person is not there, her and a solider go to the "ash pit" (were bodies of the dead are burned). They find the boy and the solider shoots him. Cassie then shoots the solider. She begins to freak out and run back towards the camp only to witness her father being killed by the leader of the troops. He then see's her and sends to soldiers after her. They lose her and she waits til night to go back to get her rifle out of the tree that she had hid it in. When she goes back the troops set a glowing ball on the ground. It is an explosive. After Cassie runs a very long distance to get away from the bomb, it goes off...

Question #9: What is a specific passage that struck me significantly?
"Something stopped me, though. I didn't head off into the woods. I didn't rush off to embrace the one thing with the best chance to save me: distance. It might have been the teddy bear that did it. When I picked it up, I saw my brother's face pressed against the back window of the bus, heard his little voice inside my head. For when you're scared. But don't leave him. Don't forget."
I find this little paragraph interesting because it just shows you that when something bad happens, and you need someone there for you but they can't be there, you can have something else, like for instance the teddy bear. Well this teddy bear is a stuffed animal that her little brother Sammy gave to her so that way when she gets scared she can hold on tight to the teddy bear and try to make all the bad things go away.

Question #10: What is a problem that the main character solved?
A problem that Cassie solved would have to be would be when she got shot in the leg and she hid underneath a car because she was afraid. After giving herself a pep talk she finally slid out from underneath the car and got up to continue walking to wherever she was walking.

Thirteen Reasons Why By: Jay Asher Mystery-Blog 2

Summary: In one of the tapes Hannah Baker left behind she has found out that she has a stalker. The question is who is it? Also another tape explains who stole her most deepest and darkest secrets. The secrets that she had she wrote them into poems, however someone stole her whole notebook of them. Who can crack the code that leak into the secrets of the poems? There are many more unseen thing about Hannah that Clay finds out throughout the tapes, but what tape has his name on it and why?

The books structure:
In the book the author, Jay Asher, has 2 people telling the story. One of the characters that is telling the story is the girl, Hannah Baker, that has gotten murdered. He voice is indicated in the book by using a different font to tell the reader that this is her voice on the cassette tapes. The other character that is telling the story is Clay Jensen, he it the person that is listening to the tapes. He puts his point of view all throughout the book in a different font.

One way a person solved a problem:
One of the main characters in the book (Clay) does not like what he hears on most of the tapes so he goes on a long walk and listens to them outside of his house. I could use this in case if I get stressed out I can just go outside and take a walk, or just go out for a minute to just get a breath of fresh air.

(Blog post #2) Blurr, Steven James, fiction

Learning more and more about Emily's death Daniel begins to get more suspicious. He starts to get the assumption that she was murdered. He brings this information to his father, the sheriff, his father starts to look into it. Now finally the homecoming dance, shockingly Nicole and Daniel's dates stood them up so they begin to talk. They get bored of the dance and decide to leave. They drive down the road to Nicole's house as they come across a strange thing in the road blocking their way. Soon to find out it was Tyler and his friends trying to harm them. Eventually Daniel begins to tell people about how he has been seeing Emily's ghost. Daniel's parents feel that Daniel should go see a doctor. The night before the big appointment comes and Daniel digs up his deceased dog without any knowledge of doing it. Good news came at the doctors appointment that there was nothing physically wrong for Daniel. Although the doctor suggests that Daniel should go see a shrink. Although Daniel needs answers so maybe this will be good for him.

Question #1- Where in time and history did this story take place?
This is a very modern story. Maybe the 20th or 21st century seeing as though in this story they have all the modern day technologies and other things like many medical tests and sports provided through school.

Question #2-Has this novel changed you?
No I have always known that things like murders that are made to look like suicides happen and that people that are sick enough to do such a thing would attempt to cover it u. Although it will eventually be solved with the work of people that are specialized in that field. But the things that occur in this story come to no shock to me because I've known things like this can happen.

Paper Towns- John Green

Quentin, a highschool student, is in love with his childhood friend Margo. He never talks to her anymore until one day she wannts to get back at her ex boyfriend for cheating on her with her best friend. After that night he spends with Margo, Quentin wakes up only to find her missing. Margo ran away and Quentin has to follow the clues she left by accident to find her. Quentin asks his loyal friends to help him and they end up having more fun on the adventure together.

2.   By the end of the book all of the characters change. However because the book is written from Quentin's point of view, his perception of Margo changed. It was interesting to see that at the beginning Quentin thinks of Margo as a mysterious girl and his dream girl. By the end of the book he finds out that Margo really isn't that great and the reason he admired her so much was that he imagined her better than who she was.

5.   The ending to the book was satisfying in my opinion because it was very truthful and it was a happy ending. I liked how the book was left on a bit of a cliff hanger. I wouldn't change the ending because it was made to end on a mystery, and the lesson of the book was some things are better left a mystery.

Blog Post #2: TAG: The Girl Who Disappeared Twice, Andrea Kane, Mystery

Blog Post #2:
TAG: The Girl Who Disappeared Twice, Andrea Kane, Mystery (Non-fiction)
Summary: From the time she was little until now she was dealing with the same story. When she was younger it was her twin sister, now it's her daughter. •  Question 3: (Do these issues affect your life?)
No, not my life personally but they could at any given time to anyone because the main issue here in this story is a little girl got kidnapped.

Paper Towns by John Green Fiction

In the first summary I ended it by saying that Margo has ran away. This is now where it begins. Summary- Q woke up the next morning to see that his mom and dad, Margo's mom and dad and the detective were all sitting at the table. They were asking questions about how Margo was acting a couple days before she disappeared. Margo's parents specifically her mom said that now that she is 18 she will not waste the money to find her because she is the one who wanted to run away. The detective was talking about how Margo always left clues so it was easier to find her. After Q heard that he thought that she wanted him to find her. He was determined to find the clues that would lead him to her. After searching her room the only thing that he found was a book of poems with only a few lines highlighted. The next day when he went to school her best friend Lacey was very concerned about Margo and Q told her about the clues and the Lacey told Q that she wanted to help find her. Q found out that Margo spent most of her time in this old abandoned outlet mall. Q and his friends went to visit it and they found out that Margo spent her time there before she left. This helped them become closer to finding Margo.

Question #8
In the book Paper Towns it took place in present time. The time period is around our time period. It takes place in Florida and New York City. If the time period was changed the whole story would change too. If the story took place in the past they probably wouldn't have had a car to drive. Also they would not have snuck out and done things that teenagers do in this time period.

Question #9
A passage that struck me as significant was when Margo talked about how Orlando was a paper town. A paper town to her is something that acts fake and is not really there. She describes Orlando as that because the people that live there are fake and are just going through the motion. This is a significant passage to me because It talks about how everyone in the world is not who they really are. Also because people are fake and you can't trust everyone.

Gone, Lisa McMann, Fiction, Nathan powell

Now that I've got really deep in the book things started to happen and I would say were very interesting. One thing that needs to be said is that Janie dreams are getting worse. They are feeling real to her and is creeping every one out. One of her dreams happen has her and Caleb were walking into the hospital to see Janie's dad, but the weird thing was he was unconscious. Her dream was about her falling to her knees and hearing a buzzing sound. She is having trouble hiding all of it like the dreams and everything from people. With this difficultly its getting hard for her to do everything even to breath.
7.) From my perspective this story hasn't changed me much, but I could say it has changed me a little. It has change me little because knowing that this teenager is going through troubles in her live I know that people in real life have this problems and makes me feel different about how others people prespectives our about things.

8.) In this book the time is around the mid 2000 because it states in the book when there is a chapter. The setting about a teenager who has some struggles in her life revolving around her self and family especially her mom and dad

"Where She Went"-By Gayle Forman, realistic fiction, Alyssa-Beth Woodruff

So, many people have read or at least heard of the book "If I Stay". This book that I will be telling you about today is the sequel to that book. Mia, the protagonist of the story, was in a car accident with her mother, father, and little brother. They were out for a drive on a snow day for the kids, when a pick-up truck slips on the snow and send the family into the ditch. The mother died on site, the father was knocked unconscious and was taken to the hospital for surgery, as well as Mia. Teddy, Mia's little brother, was the only family member that was conscious. Unfortunately, both parents couldn't make it and Teddy let go as well. Here is the question for Mia, should she stay alive but wake up with no family? Or will she let go to be with the rest of the family? Well, that is when "Where She Went" ties into this decision. Mia decided that she will stay alive. But she leaves to go across the country from her boyfriend, Adam. Why? She is going to Julliard, one of the greatest instrumental schools in the country! She played the cello. She has also dreamed about going to Julliard her entire life, but why didn't she choose to stay with Adam? Well, what would yo do? Would you stay with the possible love of your life, or go to a school that may decide the rest of your life?

QUESTION #3-- "talk about the book's structure..."

The structure of the book goes from one point in time to another, just like most books do. The language is used like someone would be saying it to a friend. At times, the vocabulary is a little sophisticated. Books that are like normal conversations, just with more action and verbs, are easier to read, in my opinion.

QUESTION #1

Mia is a teenage girl that has gone through a lot. Losing her mother, father, brother, and suffering without family. She plays the cello which brought her into the college/school of her dreams! Her family consists of pretty much only her Grandparents. She lost everyone else in the car accident. I admire Mia because she not only worked to get to where she is today, such as going to Julliard, but she made a huge decision between living her life without family or not living at all. I honestly wouldn't be able to make it in life if I had lost my family. It is hard. I have lost some grandparents throughout my life but not all at once.
Crow Planet, Lynda Haupt, Non fiction

Continuing the journey in the world of crows, Lynda Haupt goes over the mysterious language of the crow. The crow is surprisingly in the songbird family otherwise known as a "Passeriform". But the weirdest thing is they don't use their songs to attract a mate like other birds, or "dawn chorus".The truth is naturalist have only deciphered a few words and phrases. It is quoted in the book on p75-76 that "We know some basic words and phrases. It is as though we are traveling in a foreign country without speaking the language; we miss cultural nuances. Until we can speak crow, we will not fully know the crow." In the book Lynda explains that she got a crow call in her stocking last year, so excited she went to a park that many crows favored and tried an assembly call, and all of a sudden about 12 crows crowded together, I couldn't believe it. The book also goes in depth of how some birds walk and how some differ from crows. For instance, the book explains that crows can actually walk because their muscles have adapted while other birds such as songbirds can only hop when they are on the ground because they are not able to. All in all the world of the crow is different from our world.

Question #2 -The central idea of this book is obviously about a naturalist taking us to another world, the world of the crow, how they live the mysteries behind them and how smart they really are.

Question#9 fiction- A small part in the book that I was intrigued in was on p99 that stated "We forget the earthen capabilities of our bodies, where they can take us, and how far."I will always remember this because its so true on how we can forget how thankful we should be about the simplest thing.

Navy Seals Dogs

NAVY SEALS DOGS by Mike Ritland

From were i left off he starts to talk about how when he was in high school he had to wear a speed o over his pants because was on the swim team.He got beat up by a couple of kids and he because of that day he took karate classes. He wants to be able defend himself and that got him thinking about defending his country and joining the military. Then the next chapter was about him and his platoon and how they had a new highly trained dog on there team. Also when he was in a ambush with his platoon. Then the dog help one of his men out of the fire fight and saved his life during that time.

1)I believe in this the main character was in the navy seals was because he wanted to protect his country. The reason why he wants to protect his country is because that day he got beat up he was defenseless and he doesn't want that to happen to his country or friends. Also the dog does his part because that's what he was trained to do and there's no other reason than to protect and serve and be a friend.

2)The past for the main character has made him stronger and made him an hero. The reason why i think so is because when was defenseless and beat up.He became a navy seal to serve and protect his country.

Josh Hamilton, Beyond Belief. By Tom Keown, non-fiction, Jacob Buell

Now that Josh has made it to the big leagues, He is facing many problems that is known to happen to other pro athletes. He is getting into tattoos, and is starting to hang out with the wrong kind of people. As a result he started to get involved in drugs. This started getting to Josh's head so he decided to tell his team trainer. After that, he was instantly labeled as a drug addict. This destroyed Josh's confidence because he knew he could stop at anytime, but still was put under some title that he did not believe fit him. After that Josh became very depressed and didn't participate in the rehab classes. Everything began to go down hill for Josh.
3. The issues in this book don't really effect my life right now, but later in life if I get the chance to play high level baseball it will be easier to me to tell what can and cannot put me in the same position as Josh. Also, his situation teaches me that depending on who you hangout with, can help decide the rest of your life. So, therefore, make sure you make the right decisions.
5. The situations in this book are very  controversial because many people do not believe at all in drugs. So, for a great athlete such as Josh Hamilton to use them, it is a big deal. People think he shouldn't be as praised as he is due to his negative values of his past. Therefore, the problems and the book can be very controversial towards many people.

The 5th wave, fiction

I have not yet finished the book but so far what I've read is the main character Cassie has changed. In the very beginning Cassie is mad about the beginning of the invasion. Cassie's brother is then taken by the aliens later in the book and its seems like Cassie's attitude changes. She goes from a scared angry girl afraid of the invasion to a determined, mentally stronger young women who will do anything to get her brother back.  Cassie definitely matures as the book goes on.

Throw like a girl, Jean Thompson, Fiction blog 2

Summary: The beginning of the chapter starts off with her talking about her father and her family. Throughout the chapters she gets teased on by her friends and the people in her school. They still call her "the brat" because shes mean to a lot of people. She doesn't learn to accept things and move on from them.
Question 9: (Talk about specific passages that struck you as a significant- or interesting, profound, amusing, disturbing or sad. What was it that struck you about the passage? why is it memorable?)
One thing that kind of shocked me as a reader was how the main character didn't really change throughout the book. She stayed rude throughout the book. I think it was because her dad passed away so she was taking it out on everyone else.

Question 10: (Think of one way that a person in the story solved a problem. Tell or write what you learned about solving the problem that you could use sometime in solving a problem of your own. What kind of trouble was he/she in? What was the problem to be solved? Do you have any of the same problems?)
One way that one of the characters in the story solved a problem was when "the brats" friends tried to help her through her loss but she didn't really accept their help. If i was in her position i would accept their help and try to move on. I don't have any problems like that in my life right now.
The Ghetto Cowboy: By G. Neri Brandon Lighton

A young teenage boy is living with just his mother in the city of Detroit. This boy gets in a lot of trouble in school and is just a bad kid. Finally when he does something really bad his mother gets pushed over edge and decides to do something to him. He had just been picked up from school when his mother decides not to take him home. He asked his mother where she was taking him and she told him that she couldn't do it anymore. She meant all of the trouble he had been getting into. She could not handle it anymore. She told him that she was taking him to live with his father in Philly. Who he had never met in his entire life.

Question 1: (Describe the main character)
The teen bot named Cole is the main character from this book. He gets into a lot of trouble with his actions.

Question 2: (Question you would ask the author)
How did you come up with this idea of a twelve year old kid getting into trouble and then being sent to live with his father. Did this happen in you actual life or did you just make it up.

Unstoppable- Tim Green, Cameron Cronk

Harrison's football team is cruising through the season with an undefeated record and they are now going to the semi-finals game against Larsonville. They destroyed them 52-7 and Harrison got 5 touchdowns. But there is a counterpoint. Harrison, the best running- Scratch that the best player on the team, has a very bad injury on his knee. He doesn't want to tell his foster parents, Jennifer and Coach. One night he decided to ice his knee in bed. The next morning, his sheets ended up getting wet from the leaking ice from the bag. His mom finds his bed being wet and she questions Harrison. He said " It's not what you think.'' And that's when they found out that Harrison had an injury. They called the doctor to see if they can help his knee. This is the end of the second part of the book. Also, Harrison and Becky have become very good friends and they even hold hands with each other. Harrison also works with his buddy on the football, Justin, to mow Becky's and other neighbors lawns. He gets payed a lot of money. Hopefully Harrison's team can win the championship!

Question 1 (Describe the main Character)

- The main character of this book is of course Harrison Kelly. He is a very responsible kid who loves the game of football. If he ever makes a mistake, his parents just help him through it. He reminds me of me because we both love to play sports and we both get help from our parents if we ever need help.

Question 2 (What question would I ask the author)

-I would ask the author " Where do you come up with all your great sports books?'' Does this book base on anyone in your life or who've you met?''

Wonder,R.J. Palacio,Fiction

The next few parts of the book were told by many different points of views.Such as part 4,which was told by a character named jack.Jack Will is one of Auggies best friends in this novel. But when Jack and Auggie first met it didnt go so well, there teacher asked if he would be Auggies "welcome back buddy" and with quite a bit of hesitation he didnt really want to do it.Most of the students that go to Auggies school dont like to be seen sitting with him at lunch or even talking to him just because he "special" from the other kids.

Question:Has the novel changed you?
I think the novel Wonder has a a pretty good impact on me.I think that because it has taught me that even if a kid in school doesnt look quite the same as everyone else then you should still be nice to them.Like talking to them even if its just a simple conversation.

Question:Are the topics controversial?
I think the topics are very controversial because bullying is a big thing that keeps being brought up.I think the novel,Wonder,is all about how August goes through life beig bullied and not talked to by other kids in his school just because he has a rare face condition.I also think the author R.J. Palacio brings up very good points in the book about how stereotypical kids are.

Schooled blog#2

So far Cap was scheduled to live at a foster home but instead, Ms. Donnelly (one of the school's guidance counselors) has decided that Cap can stay with her and her cranky teenage daughter Sophie. Cap also must attend to the local middle school, Claverage middle school. Claverage middle school is one of your average middle school, expect there is some irony in its name; a kid named Zachery Powers decides to take off the L in CLAVERAGE turning it into C AVERAGE middle school, also the students have their own way of picking class president which is kind of a ritual now, the ritual is- the least popular kid gets picked. Anyway, when Cap enters the school Zachery is told to show Cap around and when they get to his locker Cap was completely baffled on why his locker why was empty. Zachery then tells him that its supposed to be empty until he puts stuff in it, which makes him even more confused. Once it was lunch time Cap sat down with a boy named Hugh Winklemen, who is the second least popular student in C average middle school (Cap took his place) and instead of Hugh getting a face full of spitballs, Cap does. After the first day at C average middle school, Cap already had his sandals stolen while he was meditating in front of his locker and wanted to go home but since his grandmother was in the hospital he couldn't go anywhere.

Questions:
8. What time and history did the story take place?
Around 1999 or 2001, September through October.
6. If you could ask the author a question, what would it be?
Why did Rain teach Cap how to drive at such a young age?

They all fall down By roxanne st. claire

The genre of this book is drama and mystery.
This book is about Kenzie and her unpopular friend Molly. Kenzie is still number 5 on the hot list, but still struggles to find out how to stop the killings from happening. On top of that her friend Molly thinks that she's in over her head with popularity. Molly thinks shes using it to much, Kenzie thinks she's "using it to her advantages".
But with Kenzie number 5, she's almost got the guy of her dreams, gets into every party, and gets treated like a queen.
With all of this happening Kenzie is having a hard time telling her mom that she got invited to a party. Her mom is huge with her daughter being "one of those girls".
Kenzie is the only one catching on to the killings. She's the chosen one, the one left to solve the mystery.
Can she do it before her number is next?

Question 6; If i could ask the author one question i would ask her how she thought of the mystery, how she put it all together.

Question 9; A specific passage that struck me was the passage that Kenzie found out she was number 5, it seemed like she was almost depressed but exited at the same time. Kenzie was depressed because she didnt want to leave her friend out in the dust, for a whole bunch of preps. But excited because the moment the list was on the wall, the fame just came to her. Millions on follow requests on all of social media sites. Not to mention the guy of her dreams asked her to go to a party with him. At one point she said "i can not believe me out of all people would be on this list, im a geek and i thought no one even knew me" almost as if it was just ment to be.

Dear bully, Megan Kelley Hall and Carrie Jones

In the next section of my book, the authors letters get more and more intense. It's hard to realize this can really happen to some people. Like Micol Ostow letter, first she listed 28 things she was made fun of for. Twenty Eight! It's so hard to believe, but also good to realize. I have seen people get made fun of before. Maybe it's not as funny as it seems to be. Just a simple joke can hurts so much. So there really isn't a plot or climax to this book... as i said its 70 authors who write letters to their past bully, but I think that's okay. The book shows me what its like and how much of a big epidemic bullying really is. I love reading what people had to say to their past antagonizers, and I can't wait to read more

Question 2: what is the central idea?
The central idea is the big epidemic is schools across America. It spreads awareness of bullying by hearing about what it's like.

Question 3: do the issues affect you?
Definitely! I have been picked on before. Most of the time I just forget about it and move on with life, but I would rather it be stopped as soon as possible and I think awareness should be spread.

Tiger Woods by: Jack Clary Ryan Walsh

When tiger was 12 years old he started working with John Anselmo a teaching pro at Medowlark golf club. He faced many difficulties due to the color of his skin some courses would not let him on due to being a white only club. He maintained a 3.75 GPA throughout his high school career.

Question 2:  The author explores the idea that this boy was famous at the age of 14 years old

Question 3: This book effects my life because it is inspiring to know that there is someone who became a golf pro by hard work and detication the same thins that i have in my mind

Amber House, various authors, Mystery

In the novel Amber House, by Kelly Moore, Tucker Reed, Larkin Reed, Sarah Parsons, a fifteen year old girl who is urging to have just a small party for her sixteenth birthday, gets welcomed into her grandmothers home, after her passing. Sarah wasn't ever really close with her grandmother, only a few conversations in between the years. After her mother decides to stay in her grandmothers giant home, Sarah starts to discover strange things going on around the house. Sarah and her close friend Jackson, try to do what they can to stop her mother from selling the house so soon so the can unlock the great mansions mysteries.

Question one: Does the title relate to the book? Honestly, I would say no, the title really has nothing to do what the book is mainly about. Of course, the title may be some what mysterious, depending on how much thought is put into the title.

Question two: If you could ask the author one question, what would it be? My question for the authors of Amber House would actually be pretty simple. I would most likely ask what inspired them to write the novel, or maybe ask about the ending, which I was slightly disappointed with.

Tinkers, a fictional novel by Paul Harding

We learn a lot about Howard in this section of the book. his intense seizers, his friends, or rather friend, and his daydreams. Meanwhile, much more about George's family is presented during this section, making the readers get a better feel on George and his feelings toward his family. By now the readers have learned that the author particularly likes to add facts or small story like things that apply to what is currently going on or what has gone on with either characters. I have noticed that this helps me to better understand what either character is into or how/why they are doing or did something.

Question #7:
Though I'm now only a half of the way through this novel, I feel it has, at some amount, broadened my knowledge on how hard others have to work for simple things. Many people now take too many thing for granted even when we know that there are people out there in the world who's "norm" is so much more difficult than ours and even sometimes threatening. While we here about those types of things on the news or in short articles that most people don't even read, we don't really get to experience it one on one or even here first hand stories about it. I feel this book is great for really providing an in depth play by play of people who really made a good life out of what they had, even though what they had was so much less than what most people are lucky to have

Question #9:
The following is a passage that stuck with me mostly because I presume it means that Gilbert, a "friend" of Howard's, has died. I'm not 100 percent on that but it seems to fit considering that Gilbert was missing for days prior to this short paragraph.
"As he smoked, he listened to the voices in the rapids. they murmured about a place somewhere deep in the woods where a set of bones lay on a bed of moss, above which a troop of mournful flies had kept vigil the previous autumn until the frosts came and they, too, had succumbed."

Tinkers by Paul Harding

In my fictional book, Tinkers by Paul Harding, an old man named George on the short fall to death is starting to hallucinate. He watches as the home he made crumbles around him, of course no one else can see this because it isn't really happening. The book then takes an unforeseen turn that brings the reader back to when George was young. We, the readers, learn about Goerges family and friends back before even our parents were born. I must warn anyone who might be interested in this book that it isn't a book that is light hearted or fun, but a deeply serious novel that is about the previous life of a dead man. Goerges life isn't the only one a reader will learn about, but also others, such as Howard who I presume is Goerge's father, to help set the mood and show layers of the novel.

Question #3: This book is structurally set up where it continuesly switches between telling the story of a man named Goerge and then telling a story of man named Howard. The timeline for both men's stories go back and forth time wise. The author writes this book mainly in 3rd person, but there have been a couple incidents in which I feel as though the author switches to 1st person. I think the author tells the story the way he does because there are so many characters that need to have their background stated, and If the author had written in any other form besides 3 rd person, it would have become an extremely hard task to achieve. The story wouldnt be nearly as compelling as it is if the numerous amount of characters were not explained as deeply as they are.

Question #8: I know that in the story about Goerge, the time set is primarily in the mid 1900's because the states that he was born in 1915. As for Howard, I'm not completely sure about the exact time his story takes place, but it was before technology or advanced vehicles, and the author definitely gives the impression that Howard's story takes place in an earlier time than Goerge's.

Tyler Harrington.....Navy seal dogs

So from what i have read from so far is that the main character is a former navy seal with a lot of back round history with dogs.So the main character in the beginning of the story he goes to his friends house Brett and visits him.His friend Brett was apart of seal team 3 and with that team there was a dog named chopper who was Brett's best friend.Chopper is a navy seal dog who is very well trained and is a amazing dog who was pro trolling the perimeter of the property  because he was trained to do that. The main character of the story also tells us that he didn't know that studying dogs would be his future because he loved dogs so much.

1)The main character in the story loves dogs and was in the navy seals is because he loved animals and he especially loved dogs.He doesn't really say yet as to why he joined the navy seals and his story for it but I'm sure its because he wanted to serve his country and protect it.So to follow on this question why do characters do as they do? the character in this story does what he does because he loves doing it and it felt right to him and he didn't give up the dreams he had.

2)I admire the main character of the story  even know i don't know his name he seems to to be a very generous guy. Also because he served his country makes me like him more he protected people from bad guys.He also likes to help dogs and learn things about them and is true about about whats fair to dogs and in war and out of war.

"The Half Life Of Molly Pierce"--Katrina Leno--Fiction--Katie Roberts

The summary:
In the beginning of the book Molly, the main character, was in her car. She did not remember anything that had happened in the last few hours. The Last thing she remembered was in history class then....nothing. Out of nowhere a guy coming behind her on a motorcycle, and he was going very fast. She had an instinct that he was coming for her. She didn't know how she knew but she felt that he was. As she was coming up on a light she it turned yellow, so she ran it thinking the boy on the motorcycle would stop, but he didn't. Another truck coming up hot the back of his tire. He flew over the top Molly's car and landed about 10 feet in front of her. She ran out in the middle of the road he had blood everywhere she didn't know what to do so she cried. He knew her name, she didn't know his. Molly was very upset, again she didn't know why, but he asked her to stay with him. She asked what his name was he said it. He said everything he could before he passed out. She heard sirens in the background while she was talking to him. When the EMT's got there she said she was his friend at the last second the guy allowed her to go. When they got in the back he was saying her name, he wanted to make sure that she was there. When they got to the hospital he went into surgery, and she found out he had a twin brother. She called him and he came, They were waiting for a really long time i the weighting room then the doctor came out. He told them they did everything but with the amount of blood loss, how far he flew in the air and how hard he hit the ground he didn't have a big chance of making it.

Question Number 3--"Talk about the book's structure."
The books structure is very weird. The author started very weird, she started off in the middle of nowhere. I don't really know who the main character is other than her name and the fact she has been having blackouts. I don't mind it that way though, more things will be given out about the character throughout the book.

Question Number 6--"If you could ask the author anything what would it be?"
If I could ask the author one thing I would ask her how she came up with the idea of a girl who blacks out and doesn't remember anything. I would ask this because just the idea its self is very well written and planned out. When you read it you want to keep reading because you want to know what she is doing during the blackouts.

The Martian, by Andy Weir, Fiction

The Martian, by Andy Weir, Fiction

Mark Watney is a average man that's an engineer and a botanist...oh yeah he is also left for dead on Mars.

Well on Mars Ares 3 (the third team to reach Mars) had to abort there mission because of A destructive sandstorm, during their evacuation Mark Watney was flung away from his crew and was presumed as dead so the crew had to leave without him. The twist is that he was not dead but only  incapacitated. But now he has only two choices for getting back home and if he fails there's no getting back home.

Question #9
A passage from the that amusing to me was on the top of page 15, "H*ll yeah I'm a botanist! Fear my botany powers!" I had found it quite amusing because it was supposed to revel some of the stress in the situation.

Question #8
The author doesn't give a year due to the fact that he wants the reader to find out what year it is so what he does is plant mini clues in the story....so with clues so far it's in the not so distant future because #1 Mark Watney makes a reference to the Dukes of hazard and how it's a crappy 20th century tv show.

Question #8 part 2
If the setting changes it could drastically change the story for example if The setting was changed to be on Earth it would basically be techno version of man vs wild. Also the main character Mark Watney would already be back on Eath which would make the book really, really short.

A child called it.

I am reading a book, " A Child Called it. " by Dave Pelzer, so far in the book has been crazy and nothing you would ever expect to happen to a child. especially at his age.  the main character is a young boy in the 5th grade and his name is David. David goes to school everyday with the same lunch that he's had for the last 2 years, 2 peanut butter sandwiches and a few carrot sticks. David's life isn't anything like yours and mine this is a story like no other, he goes through a constant struggle and fight for his life each day. from the moment he gets home until the moment he goes to school he constantly gets beat and starved. life wasn't always like this for him his mother used to be a kind gentle loving women towards him and his brothers I haven't got far enough to tell you the cause but what I can tell you is what ever the cause is David isn't to blame.

question # 1 :# 3 do the issues in the book affect your life, ?
no not really. although it doesn't affect mine it can affect others. there's a lot happening in the book that people can lean from like the fact that you could think your life is bad but someone somewhere  life is far more worse. so be happy and appreciate what you have.

.

question # 2 :#6 certain paragraph that got my attention, ? I want to say that the first few pages of the book really drew me in because it like dose a flash back of the end and puts it at the beginning and it tells me how after a while a person can change because the first chapter its telling all the evil things his mom dose to him and then in the next chapter it starts from the beginning when his mom was a good nice person.

READY PLAYER ONE - Ernest Cline

Now i am only at page 76 out of 372 but so far its been invigorating. Its a totally realistic take on a  fictional future. Wade watts is an average teenage boy with no where to go but Up. since the world turned to crap, due to the overpopulation, unemployment, and energy crisis, he is forced into a teenage boys dream, living exclusively online. The virtual reality that kept everyone together and functional is called the OASIS. It was originally given out for free to any one who would take it poor and rich, black and white, male and female, eventually everyone one who could talk and type was using a special head set, motion-responsive gloves, and of course a keyboard to live. You could get jobs and earn real world money, go adventuring , go  to school, or even find the legendary keys. The original creators made this game first then added all that crap. They grew up in the eighties so there is a lot of references to dungeons and dragons, and other games from that era. So they put three secret keys all around the game which was seven times the size of our universe, in proportion to a character model, so finding them would be pretty tough, but wade was devoted to this and the ultimate prize so he study very closely to all the clues that were in anoraks almanac, which was the "bible" of this game and he stumbles upon an extremely important clue to one of the keys.

6.if i could ask the author any thing i would want to know what his main inspirations for this story and if he was pulling from certain artists or writers, do you think that a future like this could be possible. i have not read any other books by him but i am interested in reading armada, which is another one of his books.

8.this story takes place in the year 2044, the setting is extremely imperative to the story, if this took place in the past i don't think the story would make much sense and they would have to excuse the futuristic technology in a time where it doesn't fit and it would be ridiculous and take away from the compelling story that is being told.

Sparrow Hawk Red

To Start the title is Sparrow Hawk Red author is Ben Mikaelsen and genre is fiction. The story is based on a kid named Ricky who's mother was killed my drug traffickers although Ricky believes she was killed in a car accident. Ricky lives right near the border of Mexico in Arizona, and the drug trafficking happens as the Mexican drug dealers sell the drugs in America. Even though Ricky legally cant fly a plane he fly's with has dad and spend most of his free time flying around. For the first task i will describe the main characters witch the only other main character is Ricky's father Benito he used to work for the CIA and do missions but now he does other things for them. the past has changes his life drastically because his wife died. i don't really admire him because he does not do much he is just a descent role model to Ricky and he reminds me of pretty much no one i know. Then for the second task i'm doing the time and history of the story so the story is in what seems like modern day Arizona and the setting plays a huge role because they deal with Mexican drug traffickers if the location changed the story would be almost non existent but if the time changed it would not do much.
