Crow planet, Lyanda Haupt, nonfiction, by Lizzie Dagostino
For some people this may be hard to believe but as hard as it is for us to pick a location, material, and furniture for your house it is the same way with the crow! For example, in spring a crow pare will not just build a nest just anywhere they will think thuroughly on the exact location on the tree like if there in a suburban/urban where its busy and may contain many threats such as dogs or kids they will nest higher, or if there in a rural area they may pick a lower branch to easily reach food or easier on their fledglings(young birds ready to learn to fly). When they pick the right spot then its time to build it but it takes a lot more time than many think. Yes crows can be so picky that it can take 20 minutes just to find and pick 1 stick!!! And just like when the husbands turn their backs for a second is when the women take over and "fix" the nest the way they want to, and hope that the husbands don't notice. And that was building a home with crows!
Question #7 fiction- This novel has changed me a lot. Before I had read this book crows to me have always caught my curiosity and I felt that they were shrouded in mystery and a bit odd. However I realized that crows are kind intelligent creatures that are misunderstood and should not be symbolized as a bad symbol like death or bad luck.
Question#6 fiction- If I could ask the author a question I would ask if she changed her mind on crows after writing a book about them because in the beginning of the book she clearly states that crows are not her favorite animal unlike most authors that usually write about why they like whatever the main ideas about.
