so far i have gotten to chapter 3, this book is very good and i recommend reading it, even though we read the book in 10th grade. chapter 2 was a great chapter and thats what I'm going to tell you about.
There is a boy named William that is in Scouts class (scout is the main character) and he is to poor to afford lunch. Ms.Caroline (the teacher) gives William a quarter for lunch expecting him to pay her back in the morning. Scout tries to explain to Ms.Caroline that he has no money and can't pay her and in anger she smacks Scout on the hand with a ruler. This book is based off of a time when it was okay to hit students with rulers.
Why did the teacher hit Scout when William couldn't pay her back?
Why was it okay to hit students on the knuckles?
This book sounds very interesting and I am excited to read it next year.
