The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, Sam Robinson

Summary: This book is about a girl named Cassie (short for Cassiopeia) who is trying to survive an invasion of the "Others". The Others are "aliens" who have come to earth to take control. The only difference about these aliens is that their not little green, big headed, huge eyed things. They actually look just like us, humans. In the first couple of chapters she is describing what happened during the first couple of waves. There are 5 waves all together and each wave gets worse and worse and kills more and more people till there is literally no one left on Earth except for the Others. "In the 1st wave only around half a million people died, since the wave was only a massive electromagnetic pulse that ripped through the atmosphere at precisely eleven A.M. on the tenth day." Each wave had a different effect on everything and everybody.

Question #8: Where in time and history does this take place...
This story takes place in modern times, maybe 2007-2010. I can tell because in some of the beginning chapters Cassie says things about texting her friend on her cell phone, which indicates that they have technology that they wouldn't of had in the 1900's. Also they talk about people having CNN on 24/7 to see whats going on out in the world.

Question #6: If I could ask the author a question...
A question that I would ask the author (Rick Yancey) if I got the chance would be, "why did you include the part where Cassie is sitting in her backyard with that boy (Mitchell)?" "What was the point of that part being in the story if it wasn't really beneficial to the story?"
